The shot put men at the 1924 Olympics in Paris was held on 8 July 1924th 28 athletes took part.

In the competition there was a triple triumph for the US team. Bud Houser won ahead of Glenn Hartranft and Ralph Hills .

The athletes had to complete a qualifying round in three groups on July 8th. These six best athletes from the four qualifying groups qualified for the final, which took place on the same day. The distances achieved in the preliminary fight were included in the final result.

In the shot put there was a triple success for the Americans. Bud Houser - actually Lemuel Clarence Houser's full name - won just ahead of Glenn Hartranft and Ralph Hills. In addition, another US athlete and two Finns had reached the final. Among them, however, was not the Olympic champion of Antwerp 1920 Ville Pörhölä, who had to be content with a seventh place here. The performances of the athletes did not quite come close to the distances that Ralph Rose and Pat McDonald had achieved in the era before the First World War .

This triple victory for the USA was the fourth in the seventh Olympic shot put competition. Of the 21 medals awarded so far, US starters alone have won 16.
