This article covers the Costa Rican Olympic soccer selection during the 1980 Summer Olympics .

Olympic qualification

In the preliminary group, Costa Rica clearly prevailed against Panama in the first round and defeated Guatemala in an additional play-off in the second round, which brought them into the decisive final round. In this one finished second behind the United States and thus qualified for the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow .
