Grandpa is an East Timorese Suco in the administrative office of Lolotoe ( Bobonaro municipality ).

Before the 2015 territorial reform, Grandpa had an area of ​​26.67 km². Now it is 32.40 km². The Suco is located in the south of the administrative office of Lolotoe. To the northwest lies the Suco Deudet and northeast Lupal . In the south, Grandpa borders on the municipality of Cova Lima with its Sucos Labarai ( Suai administrative office ) and Holpilat ( Maucatar administrative office ). The river Foura flows through the center of Opa from west to east , which later follows part of the border with Lupal and then continues to Cova Lima. There are larger towns in Opa only north of the Foura.

In the very north of Opa is Lolotoe , the main town of the administrative office. Together with the places Raimea and Moko in Opa and Bou Valley and Oe-Laca in Suco Deudet, Lolotoe forms a settlement center with over 3000 inhabitants (2006). The settlement center of Lolotoe has a primary school, a school to prepare for secondary school ( Escola Presecundaria Opa ), a helipad and a community health center in Suco Opa . There is another primary school in Tepa , a little south of Lolotoe. To the east of Tepa is the village of Mape (Bunak for "osprey"). In the Suco are the three Aldeias Mape , Raimea and Tepa .

Residents

1581 inhabitants live in the Suco (2015), of which 770 are men and 811 women. The population density is 48.8 inhabitants / km². There are 325 households in the Suco. Over 65% of the population name Bunak as their mother tongue. About 35% speak Tetum Prasa .

history

In 1976 a base de apoio was built in the hills of Zoba Zova , where FRETILIN settled refugees before the Indonesian invasion. It was later destroyed by the Indonesian troops.

In May 1999, when the independence referendum was being prepared in East Timor , Indonesian troops and pro-Indonesian militias occupied Deudet and Opa and began to terrorize the population. Only the arrival of the INTERFET ended the suffering of the population.

In the elections of 2004/2005 was Justino Belo elected Chefe de Suco. In the 2009 elections won Duarte Mendes .
