The Openair Literature Festival Zurich is an international literature festival that takes place annually for one week in the open air in the Old Botanical Garden in Zurich .

Organization and content

The festival is presented jointly by the Literaturhaus Zürich and the “Kaufleuten”, the two most important institutions for literary events in Zürich. The founder and director of the festival is the Swiss artist and curator Andreas Heusser . Since 2014 he has curated the program together with Gesa Schneider and Corina Freudiger.

The main program of the festival consists of premieres , performances and readings by international authors and “newcomers”. The supporting program explores alternative literary forms of expression and presentation, e.g. B. with poetic installations , interactive radio plays , scenic readings and interdisciplinary projects in the intersection between text, dance and theater .
