The Interstate Highway 35 , which is the shortest route from Des Moines to Kansas City here runs north-south through the west of Osceola. The US Highways 34 and 69 intersect in the center of the city. All other roads are subordinate country roads, some unpaved roads and inner-city connecting roads.
A railway line for the freight traffic of the BNSF Railway runs in a west-east direction through the urban area of Osceola. This route is also used by Amtrak's California Zephyr , which runs from Chicago to San Francisco and has a station here.
