Otto Alexander von Lehwaldt (born June 1, 1808 in Perkau , † December 14, 1879 in Königsberg ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

Otto was a son of the Prussian captain a. D. Hans von Lehwaldt (1768–1816) and his wife Amalie, née von der Boeck (1771–1842). His father was the master of Perkau and Barthen.

Life

Lehwaldt joined the 1st Infantry Regiment of the Prussian Army on June 1, 1824 and was promoted to Second Lieutenant by the end of February 1827 . For further training he completed the General War School in 1836/39 and then worked as a teacher at the division school of the 1st Division until 1841 . At the beginning of April 1844 he was assigned to the General Staff and in mid-May 1844 he was promoted to Prime Lieutenant . Lehwaldt was promoted to captain on April 3, 1845, when he was transferred to the General Staff. From October 1846 to May 1850 he was in the General Staff of III. Army Corps and then as a major in the General Staff of the VI. as well as in the I. Army Corps . As a lieutenant colonel , Lehwaldt was appointed chief of the general staff of the 1st Army Corps in mid-October 1855. With the appointment as commander of the 3rd Infantry Regiment , Lehwaldt returned to the troop service on June 26, 1858 and was promoted to colonel in November 1858 . With the rank and duties of brigade commander, he was chief of the General Staff of the VII Army Corps from July 24, 1861 to January 28, 1863 . In this position he was promoted to major general by King Wilhelm I in mid-October 1861 on the occasion of the coronation ceremonies . On January 29, 1863 Lehwaldt was appointed commander of the 7th Infantry Brigade in Bydgoszcz appointed and mid-March 1864, the Order of Saint Stanislaus I. class before illness on November 1, 1864 award of the character as Lt. Gen. his farewell with Pension received.

On the occasion of the German war Lehwaldt was on May 6, 1866 board for disposition provided and for the duration of the mobile relationship with the commander of Neisse appointed. On July 13, 1866 he became commander of the containment corps of Josephstadt and Königgrätz , which consisted of six battalions , four squadrons and two batteries . On August 1, 1866, he resigned as commandant of Neisse. On September 11, 1866, he was released from his position. For the duration of the mobilization on the occasion of the war against France , Lehwadt was Commanding General of the Deputy General Command of the X Army Corps in 1870/71 . For this he received the Order of the Red Eagle 1st Class with Oak Leaves on July 8, 1871 .

He died on December 14, 1879 in Koenigsberg.

Lehwaldt married Olivia Benigna von Usedom (1802-1880) on November 5, 1845 in Berlin . The marriage was childless.
