The Pontifical Commission for the State of the Vatican City ( Italian : Pontificia Commissione per lo Stato della Città del Vaticano ) exercises the legislature in the Vatican City State on behalf of the Pope .

The Pontifical Commission directs the budget and financial policy of the Vatican. She is responsible for the various offices and services of the Vatican City Governorate , which is the executive branch. The Pontifical Commission for the State of the Vatican City was founded in 1939 by Pope Pius XII. established and replaced the central council that had ruled until then.
