Pa Amat Dibba (born October 15, 1987 in Farafenni , Gambia ) is a Gambian- Swedish football player on the position of a striker who has been under contract with GIF Sundsvall since 2011 .

Club career

Start of career and advancement series with Brandbergen

Pa Dibba was born in 1987 in the Gambian city of Farafenni, the largest town in the North Bank region . When Dibba was seven years old, he emigrated with his family, which consisted of 14 other siblings and four half-siblings, to Brandbergen in Sweden , where the father had already settled a few years before before he brought his family to meet them. Dibba spent his youth with various soccer teams in and around Stockholm , among others he was active with Hammarby IF , FoC Farsta and Enskede IK and later switched to Brandbergens FF , with whom he also appeared in men's soccer from 2005. At the club, the offensive player had a decisive share in the rapid rise in the years from 2006, where he was mostly the most successful goalscorer of the team, as well as the respective league. After he was used from 2005 for the men's team in Division 7 , the ninth highest soccer league in the country, he already managed to advance to the next higher division with the team in the following year . There the team played a successful 2007 season and in the following year 2008 made another promotion from Division 6 to Division 5 . Immediately afterwards, the team around the 1.78 m tall striker rose to the Swedish sixth division and another year later to the fifth highest league in the country . Also in the 2011 game year Brandbergen played for a possible further promotion in the Swedish football league system and reached a fourth place at the end of the season behind Eskilstuna Södra FF (1st), IFK Eskilstuna (2nd) and Älvsjö AIK (3rd) in Södra Svealand . During his time at Brandbergens FF Dibba was used in a total of 107 league games, in which he scored 183 goals.

Professional debut for GIF Sundsvall and promotion to the House of Lords

In the 2011 game year he finally switched to professional football when he was signed by the then Swedish second division club GIF Sundsvall (duration: 3.5 years), whereby the first half year was still to be regarded as a kind of trial period. At the beginning of the year he already completed a trial training at Hammarby IF's farm team Hammarby Talang FF , which initially wanted to bring him into the team, but had to refrain from doing so because the squad was already fully occupied and no more players could be accepted. This was also the reason why he had to stay with his parent club. After playing 14 league games for Brandbergen in 2011, in which he scored eleven goals and prepared another seven for his teammates, he was a GIF player in ten other league games, in which he himself remained goalless but contributed two assists . Pa Dibba made his professional debut in the 21st round on August 22, 2011 in a 2-2 home draw against Västerås SK , when he came on the lawn in the 69th minute for the Swedish junior international Daniel Sliper and then in until the end of the season all other games was in use. As runner-up behind Åtvidabergs FF Sundsvall managed direct promotion to Allsvenskan , where Pa Dibba was used in 22 championship games the following year , scoring two goals and making one assist. He achieved these two goals and one assist in a 4-0 home win over Syrianska FC in the third round of the still young season.

At the end of the season, GIF Sundsvall ranked 14th in the table and thus on a relegation place. After the team had already lost the first leg against Halmstads BK 3-0, the subsequent 4-3 win in the second leg, when Dibba also played a short stint, did not help in the subsequent relegation of the team from Sundsvall on the Gulf of Bothnia . Even before relegation to the Superettan, Dibba was used in three cup games of the Swedish Football Cup 2012/13 , where he also scored a goal, but was eliminated with the team in the group phase as the last of Group 3 from the current competition. In the Superettan 2013 he only made short appearances over the first half of the season and was rarely on the pitch for more than 15 minutes, but the tide changed in the second half of the season when the coaching duo Joel Cedergren and Roger Franzén began to play him more and more let. At first as a right winger and in attacking midfield, he was able to convince with a few goals and was increasingly used as a center forward at Johan Eklund's side. By the end of the season he had 26 league games, seven hits and two assists and was third with the team with 58 points behind Falkenbergs FF and Örebro SK and was able to play against Halmstads BK again in the relegation. After a 1-1 draw in the first leg, the team retired after a 2-1 defeat in the second leg again against the club from southern Sweden , which ruined a promotion. The Gambier was used in both games and scored the only goal of his team in the second leg after a header from Eklund. The 2013/14 cup season was quite successful for Pa Dibba personally, with four appearances, two goals and one assist, but with the team again eliminated in the group stage.

Renewed promotion to the Allsvenskan

The Superettan 2014 he graduated from then already as a regular force alongside the veteran Johan Eklund and came up with a use record of twelve goals and four assists for a total of 27 league appearances, in which he scored his goals of the ten highest-scoring players in the league. With the same number of points, but with a lower goal difference, Dibba with Sundsvall was runner-up in the Superettan at the end of the 2014 game year and thus rose once more directly to the Allsvenskan. In the 2014/15 Cup , however, the team was eliminated in the first game with 1: 4 against third division club Dalkurd FF from the current tournament, with Dibba scoring the only goal of his team. On November 19, 2014, Dibba's expiring contract was extended for another two years. In the current 2015 season (as of June 26, 2015) , Pa Dibba was used in the 13 previous league games and occasionally scored two goals and three assists, although he and the team are still at the bottom of the table.

National team career

After he had repeatedly stated that he absolutely wanted to play internationally for his home country Gambia, although he would also be eligible to play for Sweden, he made his debut for the Gambian national football team in 2015 . In May 2015, Dibba, together with his Sundsvall team-mate Saihou Jagne , was brought into the Gambian national team by the newly elected Swiss Raoul Savoy , with whom he was to qualify for the 2017 African Cup of Nations . He came into play on June 13, 2015 in the first game, a 0-0 draw against South Africa , played 72 minutes and was then voted the best player of the game.
