Panholz is a hamlet in the Altenfelden community in Upper Austria ( Rohrbach district ). The village has 24 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020).
geography
Panholz is located in the central area of the municipality of Altenfelden or in the north of the Altenfelden cadastral community. The settlement is located around 700 meters southeast of Altenfelden's market square and connects almost seamlessly to the southeastern parts of the Altenfelden market on Wildparkstraße. In the south, Panholz is surrounded by the forest of the same name, in the north are the Panholzweg, which is part of the market, and large agricultural areas. A total of seven buildings were counted for Panholz in 2001, with six buildings having a main residence and 12 apartments or 11 households. There were also two agricultural and forestry operations and one job. With one exception, the buildings in the village are located northwest of Wildparkstrasse and form a closed settlement.
History and population
The place name Panholz is derived from Bannholz, a forest in which only authorized people were allowed to hunt. The settlement, like the existing buildings, is very young. The settlement is not mentioned in the registers of places before the First World War .
