The Paradise Valley is a small, about 4.2 km long left tributary of the Wiesent tals in the north of Franconia Jura . Most of it belongs to the municipality of Stadelhofen , the southern end to the municipality of Königsfeld , both in the Bamberg district in Bavaria . The valley lies in the northernmost part of the Franconian Alb and is traversed in the southern foothills by a short, approximately 400-meter-long right branch of the Wiesent . It is uninhabited and undeveloped and is especially popular with hikers and climbers . It lies entirely in the Franconian Switzerland-Veldenstein Forest Nature Park and is considered to be one of the most beautiful valleys in Franconian Switzerland .
Geography and description
The Paradiestal begins about 1.5 km southwest of Stadelhofen at an altitude of about 445 m above sea level. NN, runs in north-south direction and flows after about 4.2 km at 421 m above sea level. NN in the Wiesent valley.
At first, the valley runs relatively straight with a few smaller bends over about 1.6 km from north-northwest in south-southeast direction . In this section of the valley are the Langerstein rock formations with the rain retention basin in front , Hinterer Paradiestalwächter, Wüstenstein, Parasol and Zigeunerstube. The valley course then describes a large S-curve before it runs again in a north-south direction. About 1.4 km before the mouth of the valley is the “Blue Sea” ( 49 ° 58 ′ 48.3 ″ N , 11 ° 11 ′ 23.6 ″ E ), a small karst spring bordered by a rock wall , which extends through its turquoise blue color. Down the valley there is still the Silberwand rock and the nostril rock, behind which the valley ends about 500 m further. For more information on the rocks, see the table below.
geology
The Paradiestal runs completely through the Frankeldolomitschichten of the Malm-δ . Since it is a dry valley , no water flows permanently through the Paradiestal, as through other dry valleys of the Franconian Alb since the last Ice Age . The valley floor is covered by sedimentary rocks. The Bavarian State Office for the Environment classifies the valley as a generally geoscientifically significantly and geoscientific value as a valuable one.
List of rock formations in Paradise Valley
