Patrick Vogel (singer)

Patrick Vogel (* 1982 in Berlin ) is a German opera singer who specializes in tenor voices. He has been a permanent member of the ensemble at the Leipzig Opera since 2015 and often appears as a concert soloist.

Life

Vogel was born as the son of a chemist and a psychologist in Berlin and completed an apprenticeship as a two-wheel mechanic after graduating from high school. He then studied singing at the Hanns Eisler University of Music in Berlin , a. a. with Kammersänger Roman Trekel , Julia Varady and Snezana Brzakovic. In 2005 he made his debut at the Berlin State Opera in Parsifal under the direction of Bernd Eichinger and the musical direction of Daniel Barenboim ; other small roles followed in Salome , Macbeth and the Magic Flute .

In 2009 Vogel became a member of the International Opera Studio Zurich (under the direction of Alexander Pereira ), where he participated in over 35 productions. After two years, he moved to the Klagenfurt City Theater as a lyric tenor in 2012 .

Patrick Vogel has been a permanent member of the Leipzig Opera since 2015 . Guest performances led him a. a. to the Semperoper Dresden, to the Teatro Carlo Felice Genua under Fabio Luisi and in 2016 to the Salzburg Festival with Anna Netrebko . In 2019 he made his debut as Eisslinger ( Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg ) under Christian Thielemann at the Salzburg Easter Festival .

He attended master classes a. a. with Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau and Brigitte Fassbaender . Patrick Vogel lives in Berlin and Leipzig.

Concerts, guest performances and festivals

In addition to engagements at the opera, Vogel is also active as an international concert soloist. a. as evangelist in Bach's St. Matthew Passion under the direction of Helmuth Rilling on tour in South America. Am Konzerthaus Berlin, he debuted in 2018 with Volker Hedtfeld with the Requiem by Giuseppe Verdi .

Guest performances led him a. a. 2007 and 2008 to the Montenegro Arts Festival, 2009 and 2010 to the Verbier Festival in Switzerland, 2012 to the Taiwan National Theater in Taipei , 2017 to the Tokyo Spring Festival, 2019 to the Hong Kong Arts Festival. There were further appearances at the Nationaltheater Mannheim under Dan Ettinger , in Winterthur under Douglas Boyd . In 2016 he made his debut at the Hamburg State Opera with the Lied von der Erde , staged by John Neumeier . In 2017 he sang in the Hamburg Laeiszhalle and took part in a celebrated oratorio concert of the Sing-Akademie zu Berlin (conductor Kai-Uwe Jirka ) with works by Niels Wilhelm Gade and Rued Langgaard .
