Paul Nedzela (born March 12, 1984 in New York City ) is an American jazz musician ( baritone saxophone , bass clarinet ) of modern jazz .

Live and act

Paul Nedzela, the son of a bassist, took baritone saxophone lessons from Joe Temperley , Gary Smulyan and Roger Rosenberg . While he pursued his musical studies, he concluded in 2006 a mathematics -Studies at McGill University with a Bachelor of Arts with honors. The first recordings were made in 2003 with the McGill Jazz Orchestra ( Ostinatocious ). With a scholarship from the Samuel L. Jackson Scholarship , he then studied music at the Juilliard School in New York , where he obtained his Master of Music in 2008. In the course of his career as a jazz musician, he played with George Benson , Ruben Blades , Bill Charlap , Chick Corea , Paquito D'Rivera , Kenny Garrett , Benny Golson , Roy Haynes , Branford and Wynton Marsalis , Christian McBride , Eric Reed , Dianne Reeves , Kurt Rosenwinkel , Wayne Shorter , Frank Sinatra Jr. , Ted Nash and the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra . Nedzela has also performed at festivals such as the Monterey Jazz Festival , Newport Jazz Festival , Detroit Jazz Festival , The Banff Music Festival, Festival International de Jazz de Montréal and Umbria Jazz . In the field of jazz he was involved in 17 recording sessions between 2003 and 2016. Nedzela is currently a member of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra ; In addition, he appears (2018) with his own quartet, which includes Dan Nimmer (piano), Neal Miner (bass) and Aaron Kimmel (drums).
