Paula Patton
Paula Maxine Patton (born December 5, 1975 in Los Angeles , California ) is an American film actress .
life and career
Paula Patton is the daughter of a lawyer and a teacher . Her father Charles Patton is African American, her mother Joyce (née Vanraden) has German, English and Dutch roots. Patton came into contact with film at a very young age as she lived with her family across from 20th Century Fox's corporate headquarters .
Patton attended the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts ' Summer Program and studied directing at the University of California, Berkeley , then made several short films and worked as a production assistant for television documentaries .
From 2000 to 2002 she produced parts of the documentary Medical Diaries herself for the first time , which ran on the Discovery Channel . It was only after that, at the age of 27, that she began taking acting classes. Patton had her first role in a Hollywood film in 2005 in the comedy Hitch , before she played leading roles in the musical Idlewild and, alongside Denzel Washington, in the thriller Déjà Vu a year later . The latter earned her a 2007 Black Reel Award nomination . In 2008 she starred in the horror film Mirrors alongside Kiefer Sutherland .
In 2005 Patton married the singer Robin Thicke . On April 6, 2010, Paula Patton gave birth to their son. On February 24, 2014, the couple announced their separation. On October 9, 2014, Patton filed for divorce in Los Angeles, which ran through March 2015.
