The Do-Over is an American comedy film with Adam Sandler and David Spade in the lead roles. The film was released on May 27, 2016 on the video-on-demand portal Netflix . Directed by Steven Brill .

Charlie is a little bank clerk who is dissatisfied with the course of his life so far until he meets his school friend Max at a class reunion, who wants to spend a few days with him.
Max buys a yacht and the two go out to sea. Max lets the yacht explode to simulate the death of the two friends. Previously, he had stowed two bodies in the ship, whose identity Max and Charlie now assume.
Charlie is not particularly enthusiastic at first, but changes his mind when he realizes that he owns a large estate on an island under his new identity. The friends live there for a short time until they are attacked by a killer squad. Max admits that he knew about this risk. They drive to Heather, the wife of the man Charlie has assumed, and explain to her that her husband is dead.
After a number of turbulent entanglements, it is learned that Max suffers from cancer for which the original owners of their new identities had found a cure. Since this innovation would disrupt the lucrative business of a leading manufacturer of chemotherapy drugs, the company wants to get the inventors out of the way and prevent the drug from becoming known. Charlie and Max discover that Heather is also involved in this scheme. However, they manage to get the drug public without a patent and Max is cured.

The Do-Over isn't Sandler at his best, but it's also not quite as putrid as what we've come to expect from him lately. A central plot device in the film is a key that's been stuffed up a corpse's rectum, and that's a decent metaphor for Sandler's Netflix-era output: Sure, it stinks, but it still fits somewhere.

The film was shot in Savannah , Georgia and San Juan , Puerto Rico . The house that was filmed in San Juan was also used as a location for the American television series Mad Dogs (2015-2016).

- Auto Store Lou owner's daughters Sally and Daisy are played by Adam Sandler's daughters, Sadie and Sunny Sandler. His wife, Jackie Sandler , and his nephew, Jared Sandler, the latter as a DJ at the beginning of the film , also star in the film.
- After The Ridiculous Six (2015), this is the second Netflix production with Adam Sandler in the lead role.
- Central High can also be seen on the name tags worn at the beginning of the film . Adam Sandler graduated from Manchester Central High School .
