The company was founded in 1959 by Fritz Ries as Badische Plastic-Werke GmbH in Bötzingen for the production of plastic products from films to household goods. In 1978 it was renamed Peguform-Werke GmbH and has since concentrated on the automotive market. In 1983 the parent company Pegulan AG sold Peguform to the British American Tobacco (BAT) group. In 1990 the group, now known as Eurotec, was taken over by Klöckner-Werke . In October 2002 the company went bankrupt and was acquired by Cerberus Capital Management in 2005. In August 2008, the listed Upper Austrian automotive supplier Polytec took over the majority of the company. At the extraordinary Polytec general meeting held in June 2009, it was decided to separate the Peguform Group from the Polytec Group, and the Pierer-Knünz Group took over industrial management of the Peguform Group.
