Pfaffendorf is a village with 144 inhabitants and part of the municipality of Altenkunstadt in the Lichtenfels district .

Geographical location

Pfaffendorf is located south of the bank of the Kapellenbach , in the valley of the gray monks , at 299 to 328 m above sea level. NN . The official height is 305  m above sea level. NN specified. Immediately north and south of the village are the Külmitz (437.8 m above sea level) and the Kordigast . The city center of Altenkunstadt is about one kilometer to the east.

history

It is not known when Pfaffendorf was founded. The place was first mentioned in writing in the second half of the 11th century in a deed of donation from Konversin Acela von Schweinfurt for the bishopric of Bamberg . About 1000 meters south-southeast of the village is the medieval castle stables Pfaffendorf on a spur of the Großer Kordigast .

The church just east of Pfaffendorf was built at the beginning of the 18th century. The patronage of the former pilgrimage church changed from “To the holy grave” to “St. George.

In 1801 Pfaffendorf belonged to Weismain and also paid tithe and other taxes there . Ecclesiastically it was under the monastery of Langheim , which also owned the feudal , bailiwick , village and community .

From 1818 to 1971 Pfaffendorf formed a community with its districts Bernreuth, Giechkröttendorf , the schoolhouse at the chapel (from Pfaffendorf) and the Berghaus am Kordigast. In the course of municipal reform , the place was divided on January 1, 1972 into the municipalities of Altenkunstadt and Weismain.
