The Roman Catholic parish church of St. Pankraz in the Lower Austrian village of Großglobnitz rises on a hill in the south of the Angers . The Romanesque choir tower church from the 13th century has baroque extensions and is surrounded by a cemetery . A former castle church complex at this point is documented as early as 1130. In the 13th century Großglobnitz belonged to the Altpölla Vicariate . It was mentioned in a document as a separate parish in 1350. The church, the parsonage, the cemetery and the Karner are listed monuments and are now part of the Zwettl dean's office .

The extended in 1711 to the west nave is through a steep pitched roof covered and has at the sides arched windows . The mighty Romanesque east tower has a walled-up Romanesque choir window on the ground floor and, below the bell storey, a Romanesque biforic window on three sides with a central pillar and broad transom . These twin arched windows were uncovered during restoration work in 1977. Above it rises a bell storey built in 1853 with round-arched sound windows , which is crowned by a double-onion helmet. The sacristy to the north of the tower dates from 1688 and was extended in 1859. The vestibule to the west with a staircase was built in 1977. In the outdoor area there are, among other things, two classical tombstones from the second half of the 19th century and a baroque wrought iron cross from 1766.

Karner

The single nave nave was originally flat-roofed and was given a two-bay cross - ribbed vault on polygonal consoles in the first half of the 15th century . Above the somewhat narrower western extension from 1711, in which the music gallery is built, is a barrel vault with stitch caps . The round arched triumphal arch in the east dates from 1730 and is decorated with bandwork . The square choir in the tower basement has a groin vault with chipped ribs and simple consoles. The sacristy also has a groin vault.

The rococo - high altar from 1760 with diagonally placed pilasters and Volutenaufsatz was renovated in the years 1878, 1909 and 1932nd His altarpiece St. Pankrazius is called Franz Maierhofer 1885. The upper picture is a copy of the miraculous picture from Mariahilfberg near Passau . The altar is decorated with late baroque figures of St. Franz Xaver and John the Baptist as well as a free-standing canteen with a tabernacle and candlestick angels. Left and right of the main altar are two corresponding side altars in late Baroque style from around 1760, each with a wall structure made of stucco marble with pilasters under a curved cornice and volute top. The left side altar has a Gothic Madonna figure from the 14th century in a baroque setting in the middle niche, neo-Gothic side figures of St. Katharina and Barbara from 1878, a top picture Archangel Raphael by Franz Mayerhofer (1885) and a tabernacle with a relief of the handing over of the keys to Peter from the middle of the 18th century. The right side altar has an altar leaf St. Johannes Nepomuk from the third third of the 18th century and figures of hll. Leonhard and Florian from 1878. The neo-baroque pulpit has had a neo-Gothic evangelist figure from 1877 since 1956.

The organ was built by Johann Lachmayr in 1911. Other furnishings include a possibly early Gothic crucifix on the north wall of the choir in a version from the 19th century, images of the Stations of the Cross after Joseph von Führich from the end of the 19th century, a late Gothic octagonal baptismal font , an early Gothic tombstone with an incised cross, which serves as a doorstep on the south portal as well as a bell cast by Ferdinand Drackh in 1730 .

Rectory

The late 18th century rectory is next to the cemetery surrounding the church. It has two floors and is designed in the slab style. It was renovated in 1979/1980.

Karner

The Karner in the northwest corner of the cemetery is a two-storey rotunda from the 14th century with a three-sided east choir and conical roof . During the restoration in 1981, the original outside staircase to the gothic upper floor portal was rebuilt. In the north and south, pointed arched windows with renewed tracery can be seen; in the southeast and southwest arched windows. The portal of the first floor is flat arched. Inside, the ground floor is vaulted by a ring barrel with stitch caps over an eight-sided central pillar. The upper floor has a star rib vault. The one-bay choir with a five-eighth end has a cross vault with double-fluted ribs over small consoles. The pointed triumphal arch is marked "1842" on the roof.
