Piero De Bernardi

Piero De Bernardi (born April 12, 1926 in Prato , Italy , † January 8, 2010 in Milan , Italy) was an Italian screenwriter . In the course of his many years of work he has been involved in over 120 productions.

Piero De Bernardi was born in 1926 in the municipality of Prato in Tuscany , Italy .

During his career, De Benardi worked frequently with Leo Benvenuti , with whom he formed a successful writing duo.

In 1953 he worked on his first film when he and Gian Paolo Callegari wrote the script for the film The Temple Treasure of Bengal . This had its premiere on December 18 of the same year in Italy, where it ran under the original title Il tesoro del Bengala ; in Germany was only performed in 1958. Two more films followed in 1954, including The Black Devils of Romangai . In the following years he worked on various projects as a screenwriter, so that in 1959 he had already written the scripts for 15 films; In 1958 he received the Nastro d'Argento in the category Best Screenplay for the film Guendalina , where he shared the award with his partner Benvenuti and two other authors, Valerio Zurlini and Alberto Lattuada . On April 12, 1960, his daughter Isabella De Bernardi was born, who later starred as an actress in various films.

In the decades that followed, De Bernardi worked on more than 100 films as a screenwriter. He received the Nastro d'Argento four more times: in 1972 he was awarded Nino Manfredi and Benevuti for Per grazia ricevuta and in 1976 with Tullio Pinelli , Benvenuti and Pietro Germi for Ein insane class reunion . Also in 1982 he received with his trusted partner Benevuti and the team of authors with Tullio Pinelli, with whom he had already written the screenplay for An insane class reunion , Bernardino Zapponi and Mario Monicelli the Nastro d'Argento for the film The maddened pranks of the Marchese del Grillo , in 1986 the fifth award followed for Let's Hope It'll Be a Girl . Here, too, De Bernardi had collaborated with Leo Benevuti on all of the scripts. He also received the Golden FIPA for his screenplay for the television series Come quando fuori piove .

Shortly before his death, he wrote the script for Amici miei - Come tutto ebbe inizio and the film So I Say with Harvey Keitel and Gérard Depardieu . Anusavan Salamanian was co-author . He died on January 8, 2010 in Milan.
