Pine Ridge is a census-designated place (CDP) in Citrus County in the US state of Florida with 9598 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Pine Ridge is affected by US Highway 41 . The CDP is located about 15 km northwest of Inverness and about 120 km north of Tampa .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 9598 inhabitants were distributed over 4881 households. The population density was 146.8 inh / km². 91.1% of the population identified themselves as whites, 4.2% as African American , 0.2% as Indians and 2.3% as Asian Americans . 0.7% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 1.5% to several ethnic groups. 5.7% of the population was Hispanic or Latino .

In 2010 children under 18 years of age and 56.1% of all households lived in 17.1% of all households with persons at least 65 years of age. 72.6% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.20 and the average family size was 2.53.

15.3% of the population were younger than 20 years old, 10.1% were 20 to 39 years old, 24.7% were 40 to 59 years old, and 50.0% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 60 years. 47.9% of the population were male and 52.1% were female.

The median annual income was $ 53,421, with 11.4% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 94.91% of the population, 2.59% spoke German and 2.50% had another mother tongue.
