Homosassa Springs is a census-designated place (CDP) in Citrus County in the US state of Florida with 13,791 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Homosassa Springs is touched by the US Highways 19 ( SR 55 ) and 98 on a common route. The CDP is about 20 km west of Inverness and about 100 km north of Tampa .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 13,791 inhabitants were distributed among 7,138 households. The population density was 206.1 inh / km². 95.6% of the population identified themselves as whites , 0.9% as African American , 0.4% as Indians and 0.7% as Asian Americans . 0.4% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 1.9% to several ethnic groups. 3.6% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 there were children under the age of 18 in 23.7% of all households and persons aged at least 65 years in 41.0% of all households. 63.6% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.30 people and the average family size was 2.75 people.

19.7% of the population were younger than 20 years, 18.3% were 20 to 39 years old, 29.1% were 40 to 59 years old, and 32.7% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 49 years. 49.3% of the population were male and 50.7% were female.

The median annual income was $ 30,722, with 21.3% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the first language of 97.67% of the population and 2.34% had another mother tongue.
