Inverness Highlands South is a census-designated place (CDP) in Citrus County in the US state of Florida with 6542 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Inverness Highlands South borders the city of Inverness in the north and is around 110 km north of Tampa . The CDP is affected by US Highway 41 and borders Inverness Airport .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the 6542 inhabitants at that time were distributed over 3198 households. The population density was 448.1 inh / km². 93.5% of the population identified themselves as whites, 1.8% as African American , 0.4% as Indians and 1.3% as Asian Americans . 1.2% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 1.8% to several ethnic groups. 5.9% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 children under 18 years of age and 42.9% of all households lived in 25.5% of all households with persons at least 65 years of age. 65.9% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.30 people and the average family size was 2.77 people.

22.4% of the population were younger than 20 years, 18.4% were 20 to 39 years old, 26.6% were 40 to 59 years old, and 32.7% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 47 years. 46.7% of the population were male and 53.3% were female.
