Grenzgänger is a TV film by Jakob Ziemnicki from the crime series Polizeiruf 110 . The 354th episode in the film series Polizeiruf 110 was first broadcast on December 20, 2015. Olga Lenski is investigating her ninth case, which brings her together with her new colleague and team partner Adam Raczek ( Lucas Gregorowicz ) in Poland . The film premiered at the Cottbus Film Festival on November 3, 2015, where it was shown in front of an audience for the first time in the presence of the two main actors.
action
Olga Lenski is on her way to her new office, which is located at the border crossing point between Germany and Poland. She should work there with Polish colleagues and be able to work more quickly in the case of cross-border offenses. On the way there, she witnessed how a Polish police patrol car followed a vehicle. The officers can stop the vehicle and follow the fleeing driver on foot. Lenski notices an injured person in the stopped car. After noticing that a seriously injured man is lying in the back seat, she gets into the car without further ado and takes the seriously injured person to the emergency room at the nearest clinic in Poland. There she meets her new Polish colleague Adam Raczek, who wants to bring her back to her car. However, this is no longer where she left it, but has been taken into custody by the Polish police.
The next day - her first in the new office - Lenski learns that Tomasz Nowak died of serious injuries that night. The arrested driver of the car in which Nowak was found, Ramsan Dimaev, is an urgent suspect. He is a Chechen and Lenski tries to get in touch with the Pole Tomasz Nowak, who studied in Frankfurt. Lenski learns from Nowak's sister that her brother is dealing with Chechnya and the violence in the country in his bachelor thesis. Therefore, the investigators suspect that Nowak's death could have something to do with it. After contacting the head of the refugee home in Słubice , where Ramzan Dimaev is staying , they find out that he is mediating Dimaev and other of his compatriots for illegal bare knuckle fights in Germany. In these fights, any boxing rules are fought with bare fists and until the participants are totally exhausted. It can be assumed that Nowak was beaten to death in such a fight. In order to clarify whether Ramzan Dimaev was the perpetrator or someone else, the investigators must penetrate further into this illegal scene. Dimaev is silent for fear of being deported and the director of the refugee home does not want to lose his agency fees. In addition, he is of the opinion to help his compatriots, because they earn a lot of money through these struggles and they can thus feed their families in their home country well.
When checking Tomasz Nowak's account movements, monthly donations from a law firm Vogel appear. Adam Raczek had already met Tobias Vogel, the junior boss of the law firm, during his research in the Frankfurt boxing clubs. When he visits him and asks about the reason for the payments, he is referred to his father, with whom he has a very tense relationship. Hans Vogel explains that Tobias was working in the office that weekend.
After the forensic examination of the victim, skin particles are found on the hands that are known to have come from a male relative. Lenski then questions Tomasz Nowak's mother, who has been employed in Vogel's office for many years. She admits that her boss is Tomasz's father. His son Tobias supposedly did not know this. But it turns out he had recently found out, and when he saw his half-brother at the last bare knuckle event, all his anger eroded. Dimaev had found Nowak injured and wanted to take him to a clinic.
In the end, Lenski realizes that everyone could have been a happy family if only they had told each other the truth sooner.

Reviews
Anne Burgmer comes to the verdict of the Berliner Zeitung: “A new start often releases energy and provides new impulses. Unfortunately, this did not apply to 'border crossers' […]. The story was babbling around, had too many lengths and didn't know where it was really going. Refugee drama, family melodrama or would you prefer a German version of 'Fight Club'? Ultimately, it did not do justice to any of the issues raised. In addition, one suspected far too early who had done the young man so badly. A poor start for the new duo, which nevertheless gives hope for improvement because the characters have potential. "
“The only really strong, because irritating moments in this somewhat strained 'Fight Club' variant [...] has actor Gregorowicz with a few laconic jokes. […] Lets go on we can do it better. We stay tuned."
“[…] 'Grenzgänger' has excellent actors like Manfred Zapatka, Christoph Luser, Danuta Stenka and Tamer Yigit, but they could not prevent an endeavored, pseudo-existentialist David Cronenberg imitation of the result, in which blood splatters on tiles , a man in his prison cell sings a Chechen song and everyone is allowed to look into nothing, pregnant with meaning. "
