The new building was ordered from Meyer Werft in Papenburg on February 22nd, 2002 and completed under construction number 650. The ship, which is named after the canton of Pont-Aven in Brittany , entered service on March 23, 2004 and is mainly used on the following routes:
Deck 6: information, two cinemas , infirmary and cabins
Deck 7: À la carte restaurant Le Flora with Le Fastnet Bar, Cafeteria La Belle Angèle and Le Café du Festival
Deck 8: duty-free shop, Le Grand Pavois Bar and cabins
Deck 9: sun and pool deck, reclining seat lounge and Les Finistères bar. The bridge is also located on this deck
Deck 10: dog boxes and exercise area
Incident 2019
In the early morning of April 29, 2019, a fire broke out in the engine room , which the ship's crew successfully fought. The Pont-Aven , which was on the way from Plymouth to Santander, was then diverted to Brest . The 766 passengers and 142 crew members were able to leave the ship there unharmed.
