The Pont-Aven is a RoPax - Ferry and the flagship of Brittany Ferries .

General

The new building was ordered from Meyer Werft in Papenburg on February 22nd, 2002 and completed under construction number 650. The ship, which is named after the canton of Pont-Aven in Brittany , entered service on March 23, 2004 and is mainly used on the following routes:

Technical data and equipment

Driven Pont-Aven four MaK - diesel engines of the type 12V M43, with 50,400  kW act on two propellers. She reaches a speed of 27 knots .

The passenger facilities on the Pont-Aven are distributed over the following decks :

  • Deck 2–4: vehicle decks with 3,500 lane meters ; they are loaded via a bow and stern ramp
  • Deck 5: cabins
  • Deck 6: information, two cinemas , infirmary and cabins
  • Deck 7: À la carte restaurant Le Flora with Le Fastnet Bar, Cafeteria La Belle Angèle and Le Café du Festival
  • Deck 8: duty-free shop, Le Grand Pavois Bar and cabins
  • Deck 9: sun and pool deck, reclining seat lounge and Les Finistères bar.
    The bridge is also located on this deck
  • Deck 10: dog boxes and exercise area

Incident 2019

In the early morning of April 29, 2019, a fire broke out in the engine room , which the ship's crew successfully fought. The Pont-Aven , which was on the way from Plymouth to Santander, was then diverted to Brest . The 766 passengers and 142 crew members were able to leave the ship there unharmed.
