The Pullo district is located in the Parinacochas Province in the Ayacucho region in south-central Peru . The district emerged in the founding years of the Republic of Peru. It has an area of ​​1563 km². The 2017 census counted 6,548 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 3187, in 2007 it was 4445. The district administration is located in Pullo, 3030  m high, with 389 inhabitants (as of 2017). Pullo is located 22 km south-southwest of the provincial capital Coracora . The Inkawasi archaeological site is located on the west bank of Lake Paricochas .

Geographical location

The Pullo district is located in the Cordillera Volcánica in the extreme southwest of the Parinacochas province. The Río Yauca (also Río Lampalla) flows west along the northern district boundary. In the east the district extends to the west bank of the lake Laguna Parinacochas. The central south lies in the catchment area of the Quebrada de Chala, a tributary of the Pacific Ocean .

The Pullo district is bordered to the west and north by the Sancos district ( Lucanas province ), to the north by the Chaviña district (also in the Lucanas province), to the northeast by the Chumpi district , to the east by the Puyusca district and to the south by the districts Quicacha , Huanuhuanu and Atiquipa (all three in the province Caravelí ).
