Pyhäranta [ ˈpyhærɑntɑ ] is a municipality in south-western Finland with 2028 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2018). It is located on the coast of the Gulf of Bothnia in the north of the Varsinais-Suomi landscape between the cities of Uusikaupunki (17 kilometers south) and Rauma (28 kilometers north). After Turku is 80 kilometers to the capital Helsinki 260 km. The community is monolingual in Finnish .
The community center of Pyhäranta is called Rohdainen. The municipality also includes the villages of Hirslahti, Ihode, Kauhianpää, Kaukka, Kaunissaari, Kukola, Lahdenvainio, Nihtiö, Nuuski, Polttila, Radansuu, Reila, Reitula, Rihtniemi, Santtio, Valkama, Varhokylä and Ylikyläylä.
The first Swedish settlers should have reached Pyhäranta in the middle of the 11th century. In the 16th century, all of today's villages in the municipality already existed. The national romantic stone church of Pyhäranta was built in 1909 and was designed by Josef Stenbäck .
