Museums

There are three museums in Oripää, namely the Hartmannin Mökki , the Oripää Museum of Local History and the Matin Museo . The Hartmannin Mökki presents objects from everyday life in Southwest Finland from the 1930s to 1960s and is the only museum of its kind in the region. The museum is named after its last residents, Ida and Olga Hartmann. The museum is open every Sunday from June to August.

The local history museum is housed in the former municipal granary, which was completed in 1912 and converted into a museum in 1985. The exhibits tell about the historical, agricultural life in Oripää.

The Matin Museo is a private museum located in the Myllykylä district. Exhibits include historic farm machinery and horse-drawn sleighs.

Natural monuments

One of the natural monuments in the Oripää municipality is the Myllylähde. It is a spring from which around 6,500 m³ of crystal clear water gushes out on a daily average. Because of the high water quality , rare and threatened animal species live on the shores of the lake into which the spring pours.

The Teinienkivi is located near the Myllykylä. The large ice age boulder got its name ( German: teenage stone ) from the fact that students wandering in the summer holidays stocked up on provisions for their further hike here.

At the foot of the Oripäähügel is the so-called Kaleva grave , an approximately 650 meter long depression in the landscape. The forecast therefore, after it comes that the agency has once served as a giant sleeping place. The similar terrain depressions in the vicinity are also believed to have been made by giants and devils .

The specifics of Oripää in terms of sports are linked to the local sports airport. The airport has two intersecting runways of 1,350 and 950 meters in length. Around 3000 to 4000 flights with small motor planes and gliders are carried out from the airport every year. In addition, there is an air show every two years with over 30,000 ( 2002 ) spectators. There is also horse riding in the area, which is offered by several studs .
