Rainer Arke

Rainer Arke (born September 1, 1947 in Hamburg ) is a German painter , visualist and designer of classical modernism . In his work he combines realism , surrealism with sculpture and object art to create three-dimensional works of art. As a visualist, he gives the viewer a “new view of three-dimensional vision”.

Live and act

Rainer Arke was born as the son of the mechanical engineer Walter Arke and his wife Lottchen Langloh in 1947 in Hamburg, which at that time belonged to the " British Zone ". As a toddler he moved from the Elbe to the Rhine, where he spent his youth, training and studies in Koblenz and Cologne. The strong interest for an artistic activity was awakened already in ARKES school age by example Uncle Peter Langloh that as an academic painter, a study completed at the Art Academy Hamburg, today's University of Fine Arts Hamburg .

Before studying “Art and Graphics”, Arke completed an apprenticeship at a leading newspaper publisher in Cologne. In 1974 he passed the state examination as a graduate designer at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal (BUW). At BUW, Arke was a master student of Professors Klaus Winterhager and Albert Ade with a focus on visual communication .

This qualification formed the basis for an international work as a communication designer, creative director and concept designer for national and international brands. Visualization of art

Rainer Arke's concern is to give the visualization of art a new dimension in his works . To do this, he uses a wide range of painting , graphic , sculpting and optical illusion techniques . This is how three-dimensional images were created in three-dimensional forms. With this work he has entered the leading international group of visualists. He is one of them, like the British Paul Critchley and Patrick Hughes , who also exhibited at Art Cologne and the documenta in Kassel and are among the pioneers of the “art of new seeing”. As a visualist, Arke continues to develop 3D technology and stereoscopic vision in the medium of art and culture.

Teaching at the art academy

From 2002 to 2006, Rainer Arke taught at the Rhein-Sieg-Kunst-Akademie (RSKA) in Hennef / Sieg. In the state-recognized institution, he was also a member of the diploma examination board for around six years. As an academy lecturer, he taught graphic design, commercial and print graphics, computer graphics and digital master copy creation. In addition, he developed new approaches in airbrush and illustrative spray technology.

Art and nature

According to his concept planning "Art and Nature", Rainer Arke created the architectural model "Eifel Tower", the name of which refers to the Hürtgenwald region in the Eifel . The district of Düren with District Administrator Wolfgang Spelthahn presented the model at the International Tourism Exchange Berlin (ITB) in spring 2019 . The 50 meter high "Eifel Tower" is to be built in a kind of wood and coal pile , which reflects the history and culture of the North Eifel and serves as a meeting place for citizens and artists. The municipality of Hürtgenwald , in whose area the battle of the Hürtgenwald took place at the end of the war in 1945, was chosen as the location of the landmark .
