Randy Wood (born October 12, 1963 in Princeton , New Jersey ) is a retired American ice hockey player who played 792 games for the New York Islanders , Buffalo Sabers , Toronto Maple Leafs and Dallas between 1982 and 1997 Stars in the National Hockey League in the position of left winger . His son Miles Wood is also a professional ice hockey player.
Career
Randy Wood began his career as a hockey player in the team at Yale University , for which he was active from 1982 to 1986. He then received a contract with the New York Islanders as a free agent . For this he played in the National Hockey League for the next five years , where he was on the ice for the first three seasons in the Islanders' franchise for their farm team from the American Hockey League , the Springfield Indians . On October 25, 1991, the winger was given to the Buffalo Sabers in exchange for Pierre Turgeon , Uwe Krupp , Benoît Hogue and Dave McLlwain along with Pat LaFontaine , Randy Hillier and a four-round vote for the 1992 NHL Entry Draft .
After three and a half years with the Buffalo Sabers, Wood was signed by the Toronto Maple Leafs in January 1995 . For the Canadians, the American completed a total of 101 games in the following year, in which he scored 22 goals and provided 20 assists. He was then signed to the Dallas Stars in January 1996 . After only 30 appearances for the Texans, he signed for the 1996/97 season with his ex-club New York Islanders, where he ended his career at the end of the season at the age of 33.
International
For the USA , Wood took part in the 1991 Canada Cup . He also played at the 1986 and 1989 World Championships .
