history

Incorporation

Population development

Population development of Ratingen-Hösel

The population of Hösel only increased significantly after the Second World War , when more and more people from Düsseldorf and Essen discovered Hösel as a quiet, yet conveniently located place to live. After a decline in the number of inhabitants at the end of the 20th century , the number of inhabitants is now growing again due to the designation of new building areas.

Culture area Hösel

When Hösel became a Ratinger district at the beginning of 1975 as part of the local reorganization, the local adult education center lost its local educational mandate.

On February 18, 1975, 154 committed citizens founded the Kulturkreis Hösel eV They laid the foundation for a continuously growing initiative at a high level. In the first decade of existence, the number of events was a maximum of 15 per year, today there are up to 50 offers per year.

Since it was founded, the culture group has brought together people who are culturally interested, curious and open to contact with like-minded people. Experiencing them together turns many events into a highlight of cultural enrichment, but also a beneficial human closeness. The increase in free time increases the need for meaningful and enriching experiences.

Economy and Infrastructure

The B 227 leads from the Breitscheid motorway junction through Hösel to Heiligenhaus and on to Velbert. The construction of the A 44 between the Ratingen-Ost and Heiligenhaus motorway junction is expected to significantly reduce traffic on the B 227.

Of the Hösel station is on the Ruhr Valley Railway , on which only the S6 Cologne - Düsseldorf - Ratingen Ost - Essen line runs. Three bus lines go from there to Düsseldorf-Kaiserswerth (line 751 via Lintorf and Angermund ), Velbert (line 770 via Heiligenhaus ) and Ratingen (line 773 via Eggerscheidt). The taxi bus line O14 goes to Breitscheid. At the weekend the disco bus line DL1 runs to Ratingen Ost.

In a construction period of about eighteen months, the level crossing of the B 227 over the S-Bahn line was replaced by a bridge. In December 2011 the bridge was opened to the public.

From 1899 to 1923 a small train ran between Hösel and Heiligenhaus .

The Hösel service station is located on the A3 motorway in the north, just before the Breitscheid motorway intersection.

Industry

Hösel now has almost no industry, but there are still many medium-sized companies to be found. Until the 1980s, the Wagener mirror factory was located where the Hösel Center now stands. The halls of a wallpaper factory are still located at Hösel train station.

school

Hösel has a school, the Wilhelm Busch Primary School. It is the largest primary school in Ratingen in terms of number of pupils. The school has been an open all-day school since the 2007/2008 school year. For the 2008/2009 school year, an extension was completed along Bahnhofstrasse.
