history

Barrow of the Roman necropolis Hügelstaudach

The area around the Königsberg was settled as early as the Neolithic . Other finds also bear witness to the continuous settlement of the area, finds from Roman times are exhibited in the Roman Age Museum.

Ratschendorf was first mentioned in the second half of the 12th century as "Rassendorf" - as the village of "Rasso" or "Ratzo". From 1332 until the 16th century the lords of Graben were the landlords of the place. This is also reflected in the former municipal coat of arms from the 20th century, where they took over the motif of the shovel from the coat of arms of the moat. The black and white striped bars lead back to the Lords of Walsee , who were also landlords of Ratschendorf.

On January 1, 2015, Ratschendorf was merged with the Deutsch Goritz community as part of the structural reform of the municipality in Styria . The new community continues the name "Deutsch Goritz".
