The Südsteirische Grenzstraße (B 69) - in Carinthia Südsteirische Grenzstraße - is a state road in Austria . It runs for a length of 107.6 km along the border between Styria and Slovenia . It begins, however, in Carinthia an der Drau . The road leads over the Soboth into Styria and through the Lavanttal Alps to the Mur , near which it runs to the end of the state border with Slovenia at Bad Radkersburg .

history

The road from Spielfeld via Mureck, Radkersburg, Kreuzdorf , Luttenberg to Friedau was assigned to the first class district roads by the law of October 3, 1868. By a resolution of the Styrian Landtag on December 10, 1885, the western section of the route between Spielfeld and Radkersburg was downgraded to a second class district road. On November 12, 1890, the Styrian state parliament decided to also downgrade the eastern section of the route between Radkersburg and Luttenberg to a second class district road.

The Untere Murtal-Straße from Straß via Mureck to Radkersburg was declared a federal highway by ordinance of the federal government of June 9, 1933. Until 1938 the Untere Murtal-Straße was designated as the B 24, after the connection of Austria the Untere Murtal-Straße was no longer run as a Reichsstraße .

The southern Styrian border road between Straß and Eibiswald has been part of the network of federal roads in Austria since January 1st, 1951 .

The Sobother Straße between Eibiswald and Lavamünd has only been part of the network of federal highways in Austria since June 1, 1961 . Formerly it was run on the Carinthian side as state road No. 148 and called Lavamünder Alpen Straße .

The Südsteirische Grenzstraße was to be dismantled from September 10, 2018 between the Sobother reservoir and the Carinthian state border into a state road. In the next few years it is to be dismantled along the entire course. The width of the lane will be reduced from 8 meters to 6.5 meters. Eibiswald cycling club, tourism and mayor expressed concerns about this. The project was initially stopped.

B69  Like the other former federal highways, Südsteirische Grenzstraße was part of the federal administration. Since April 1, 2002, it has been under state administration and continues to have the B in the number, but not the name Bundesstraße.
