Raubach was a district of the former community of Rothenberg and has been the westernmost district of Oberzent in the Odenwaldkreis in southern Hesse since January 1, 2018 .
geography
The place is completely embedded in a wooded area in the southern Odenwald in the Geo-Naturpark Bergstrasse-Odenwald in the red sandstone area. There are no main roads running through the town.
history
Raubach was first mentioned in a document in 1740, when it was founded. It was not until 1806 that the small village became an independent municipality. In 1939 the village had a total of 72 inhabitants and belonged to the district of Erbach.
On August 1, 1972, Raubach was incorporated into the municipality of Rothenberg as part of the regional reform in Hesse , which in turn formed the town of Oberzent on January 1, 2018 with other municipalities.
