Ready or Not is the fourth studio album by the German dance project RIO It consists of 3 CDs and was released on May 10, 2013.

background

On April 18, 2013, RIO announced on their Facebook page that they are currently working on the video shooting for the music video of the second single Ready or Not and that the album of the same name will be released at the same time.

Manian, Yanou and Andres Ballinas produced, wrote and composed most of the songs themselves. However, it also contains a lot of cover songs, which is why other artists were also mentioned as songwriters. Various guest musicians (Howard Glasford, U-Jean and Liz Kay ) also took part.

The album was released in the entire German-speaking area of ​​Europe on the record label Kontor Records . In the UK it was released through Manian and Yanou's own label, Zooland Records , and has a different cover because of it.

Description of the CDs

The first CD is entitled Ready or Not and consists of the two new tracks Living in Stereo and Ready or Not . In addition, all old songs, from Shine On to Summer Jam, can be found in the form of a brand new remix. These include remixes by CJ Stone , Rob & Chris and Mike Candys .

second CD ( ↓ track list)

CD number 2 is called RIO-Megamix mainly contains songs like My Life Is a Party by the Italobrothers or Carlprits 1234 which were mixed by RIO. In addition, some old songs like Hot Girl are in their original form. Initially it was planned to use some remixes, such as the "G&G Remix" by Shine On on the first CD on the second. However, this idea was discarded for the digital version of Ready or Not .

third CD ( ↓ track list)

The third CD is titled RIO & Friends and consists of a DJ mix that is one hour long, which is only available as a single item in download portals such as Amazon or iTunes . The selected songs were all released on the record label Kontor Records or Zooland Records . Examples of this are Azuros Je Ne Sais Pas .

Publication in Japan

No publication was initially planned for Japan, but a release of a new version was scheduled for February 19, 2014. This took place in the form of a "Perfect Edition". In contrast to the European version, the “Perfect Edition” contains a new remix of the single Turn this Club Around . The remix is ​​from DJ Fumi ★ Yeah! and not Mike Candys . The song Komodo (Hard Nights) is also included in the Original and Crew Cardinal Remix. It should also be mentioned that the CD only consists of 22 tracks and a megamix.

Although Manuel Reuter and Jan Peifer alias RIO are certainly among the most successful German producers in the dance sector and always put hits with different front singers on the floor and make the dance community happy, the spark may not really jump with us with this work.

And for the first time you hear something that you don't even know about Kontor Records. Bad recording quality. Oops, what's that? Sometimes the songs are too overdriven, sometimes they just sound dull.

Let's get to the music itself. You can argue about taste and even if you like the RIO hits, the constant dump will get on your laces after 10 minutes at the latest. The remixes don't help either, because uniformity sounds like uniformity and you can't change anything. Always the same beats, always the same loops and everything kind of boring.

On iTunes, the album reached number 7 on the album charts and number 1 on the dance charts after just a few hours. The song Ready or Not also went straight to the iTunes singles charts. Like I Love You narrowly missed entry. It also entered the official German album charts after just a week. There it reached number 47, surpassing the success of its predecessor, Turn This Club Around .

Living in Stereo was released on March 15, 2013 as the first single release and announcement of the upcoming album Ready or Not . As a voice they brought the singer Howard Glasford into the studio. The music video for Living in Stereo was uploaded to Kontor Records ' YouTube channel the same day it was released . The video shows two children, a boy and a girl, who are inseparable and experience all kinds of things together. They eat ice cream together, dance with a troupe of dancers , make music, steal cookies and much more. Finally, they are with acrobats who perform tricks on a steel cable . After just a few hours, it was accessed over 50,000 times. Just a week after it was released, the song entered the German, Austrian and Swiss charts. In Germany reached Living in stereo space 70 and in Austria number 41. In Switzerland, the song was able to enter even into the Top 40th There it reached rank 32.

The official music video for Ready or Not was shot together with U-Jean . Already on 19 April 2013, it published on its Facebook - profile first pictures of the shoot. The music video was first uploaded to their official MyVideo account on May 10, 2013 by Kontor Records . In the video you can see U-Jean together with several beautiful women in different scenes. He sings the intro in a car driven along a coast. In further parts you can see him at the pool, later at a party, on a rock and on a yacht. Just a few hours after its release, the title was in the top 50 of the iTunes charts. It was also in the singles charts in Germany and Austria after just one week.
