from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Rebenland Rallye 2013 was held on March 22nd and 23rd, 2013 in Leutschach , Austria . It was the second round of the Austrian State Rally Championship in 2013 and was also part of the Historic State Rally Championship , Historic Rallye Cup , OSK Rally Cup and the Mitropa Rally Cup .

background

The total length of the Rebenland Rally was 247.43 kilometers. There were 13 special stages on the program, five of them on the first day and eight more on the second day. The total length of the special stages was 152.09 kilometers, which were carried out exclusively on paved roads. A total of 74 vehicles started.

The Austrian Christian Mrlik had to cancel his planned start on the rally weekend due to budget fixations.

Course of the rally

day 1

The reigning Austrian rally champion Raimund Baumschlager won the first two special stage best times for himself. After two special stages Baumschlager was 8.7 seconds ahead of his toughest opponent, Beppo Harrach . Gerwald Grössing and Kris Rosenberger lined up in third and fourth place. The Austrian Achim Mörtl took fifth place overall at that time . The fourth special stage was extremely slippery for all participants, as the drivers used their rally cars to pull out mud, gravel and snow in the corners. Baumschlager and Harrach won the fourth special test at the same time. On the fifth and final special stage on the first day, Harrach was 16.1 seconds behind his competitor Baumschlager. Grössing and Rosenberger fought a hottest battle for third place, because Rosenberger was only 22.2 seconds short of third place. Mörtl delivered an impressive performance and finished fifth after the first day and was half a second short of Rosenberger. The German Hermann Gassner sen. took sixth place and is 25.5 seconds behind Mörtl.

day 2

Baumschlager won the sixth and seventh special stages and was 18.1 seconds ahead of Harrach. Rosenberger lost part of his cardan shaft and lost around 1.5 minutes. Grössing was able to consolidate a third place. Due to the Rosenberger incident, Mörtl moved up to fourth overall. There was an accident on the eighth special stage because Fritz Waldherr brushed against an A-mast , skidded and went off the track. Wooden parts of the mast were thrown through the air, one wooden part injured a spectator's left arm. The spectator and Waldherr were brought with the rescue to the Wagna State Hospital. The copilot Klaus Ostermann complained of pain in his shoulder and was flown to the Graz accident hospital by helicopter. The eighth special stage was then canceled and Harrach won his first special stage best time. Harrach won the 13th and last special stages before Baumschlager. Rosenberger lost fourth place on Saturday morning and was able to regain fourth place in the afternoon. Due to a defective turbocharger , Gaßner lost valuable two minutes and with it his fifth place overall, finishing seventh in the end. Mörtl celebrated his successful comeback and won the 2WD ranking with a one minute lead over Michael Böhm .
