Reginold (Eichstätt)
Reginold († April 4, 991 in Eichstätt ) was Bishop of Eichstätt from 966 to 991.
Reginold came from a noble sex. He was probably appointed bishop by Emperor Otto the Great and can be traced back to several synods in the empire, including the imperial synod in Ravenna , at which Magdeburg was made an archbishopric. He expanded the Eichstätter Dom with additions. He had his bones reburied in the memorial building for the first Eichstätt bishop and saint Willibald . He wrote several Officia in honor of Willibald, Wunibald , Blasius and Nikolaus . Anonymus von Herrieden , who documented a hundred years later , already underlined the bishop's skill in the ancient languages . Reginold managed to switch elegantly from language to language as a stylistic device within his texts.
