René Lehner

René Lehner (born April 3, 1955 in Zurich ) is a Swiss cartoonist , comic artist and author of books for young people. His first cartoon appeared in a Swiss newspaper (SPORT) in 1972.

In 1974, together with Andreas C. Knigge and Thilo Rex, he founded the comic trade magazine Comixene , which is still published today and deals with the subject of comics. In 1981 he left the magazine, emigrated to Spain and devoted himself only to drawing comics. Various books and comic contributions have appeared. In 1986 he moved his studio back to Zurich and began drawing comic strips for daily newspapers. The daily comic series Bill Body and the weekly series Willy and Zoo Klamauk ( Züri Zoo ) were created. Over the years his strips have appeared regularly in over fifty newspapers and magazines in various European countries as far as Poland, the Czech Republic, Sweden and Iceland. In 1987 he started the Gabi Grün series for WWF Switzerland .

In 1988 he moved on to Hamburg - at that time the comic capital of German-speaking countries. In addition to his newspaper comics, he created new books and cartoons, eighty half-hour cartoons with his character Bill Body and countless merchandising articles. In 1990 he moved back to Switzerland. Further series such as Peach Weber or the erotic daily series Freudendorf were created for the Swiss tabloid Blick and in 1991 he was one of the founding members of the Lucerne comic festival Fumetto . In 2008 his first youth novel Help from the Future was published and in 2009 he drew his first comic series just for the Internet: Don Caneloni . It was followed by Fred Flamingo . In 2016 his first children's book, Zwerg Stolperli, was published based on a text by Peach Weber. Since 2015 Rene Lehner has also been the publisher and editor-in-chief of the comic magazine Comixene .
