René Vydarený (born May 6, 1981 in Bratislava , Czechoslovakia ) is a Slovak ice hockey player who has been under contract with HC České Budějovice in the Czech extra league since 2010 .
Career
René Vydarený began his career as an ice hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of HC Slovan Bratislava . However, he made his debut in professional ice hockey for HK Trnava , for which he played in the first division , the second Slovak division, in the 1998/99 season. He was then selected in the NHL Entry Draft 1999 in the third round as a total of 69th player by the Vancouver Canucks , for which he however never played. Instead, the defender was in the 1999/2000 season for L'Océanic de Rimouski from the Canadian Junior League QMJHL on the ice. With the team he first won the Coupe du Président , the QMJHL championship title, and then the Memorial Cup . After spending a year with the Kansas City Blades in the International Hockey League , the Slovak played from 2001 to 2004 for the Manitoba Moose in the American Hockey League . At the same time, he also came to ten missions for Columbia Inferno from the ECHL . He ended the 2003/04 season again at Manitoba's AHL competitor Hamilton Bulldogs .
For the 2004/05 season , Vydarený returned to his Slovak homeland after five years in North America. There he received a contract with his ex-club HC Slovan Bratislava from the Slovak extra league . With the team he won the national championship title straight away . He himself was elected to the All-Star Team of the Extraliga. Following this success he joined the HC České Budějovice from the Czech extra league . For this he played for four and a half years before moving in October 2009 for the rest of the 2009/10 season within the Czech extra league to the capital club HC Sparta Prague . Since the 2010/11 season he has been back on the ice for HC České Budějovice.
International
For Slovakia , Vydarený took part in the junior division of the U18 World Junior Championships in 1999 and the U20 World Junior Championships in 2000 and 2001 . At the U18 World Cup in 1999 he won the bronze medal with his team. In the senior sector, he was in his country's squad at the 2005 , 2006 , 2008 , 2009 and 2012 World Championships .
