Requiem is a film by Hans-Christian Schmid from 2006. It alludes to the great exorcism of Anneliese Michel in the mid-1970s, which was associated with her death.
The year before, the film The Exorcism by Emily Rose dealt with the Anneliese Michel case .
action
The high school graduate Michaela Klingler lived in the mid-1970s in her religious home in the southern German province. Although she has epileptic seizures , her father agrees that she should start studying education in Tübingen. He can also overcome the mother's massive resistance to the project. Michaela befriends a fellow student and begins a love affair with a chemistry student. Their relative happiness is interrupted by epileptic seizures; she becomes convinced that she is possessed by the devil . On the occasion of a study project, she increases into a manic work frenzy that ends in a psychological breakdown. Her friend wants to take her to the mental hospital, but her boyfriend takes her to the parents' house. The local pastor and a fanatical colleague begin an exorcism. After a first dramatic session is shown, the film ends with a text overlay describing that Michaela died of exhaustion after several more exorcistic sessions.
Others
In the film, Michaela Klingler goes on a pilgrimage to San Carlo, Italy, to see Saint Catherine of Biasca. The real model is the Marian pilgrimage site of San Damiano (located south of Piacenza in northern Italy), which is not recognized by the Catholic Church , where the medium Mamma Rosa (actually Rosa Quattrini, 1909–1981) stated from around 1961 to preach the messages of Our Lady . There is no saint named Katherina von Biasca, but it is most likely an allusion to Saint Catherine of Siena .
The name of the main character Michaela Klingler is an allusion to the real model Anneliese Michel and their hometown blades mountain .
