The Rhena (not to be confused with the nearby, longer Rhen e ) is a 6.2 km long, left or southern tributary of the Neerdar in the district of Waldeck-Frankenberg , Hesse , Germany .

course

The Rhena rises in the north-western part of northern Hesse and in the eastern part of the Upland , the northeastern foothills of the Rothaargebirge . Its source is located in the Diemelsee nature park between Willingen in the west and Korbach in the southeast on the southwest slope of the Hohen Rade ( 570.8  m above sea  level ) at about 552  m above sea level. NN .

Leaving the wooded mountain towards the south, the Rhena flows through Rhena , a western part of Korbach, after crossing under the Uplandbahn . In the village it is bridged by federal road 251 .

Then the Rhena winds through a narrow valley to a little further south-west to about 397  m above sea level. NN flow into the Neerdar coming from the northwest . Its confluence is near the state road "L 3437", which connects the villages of Bömighausen (to Willingen) in the north and Alleringhausen (to Korbach) in the south, in the Neerdar valley .

The catchment area of the Rhena covers 12.001 km².

Watershed

The headwaters of the Rhena lie on the Diemel-Eder / Fulda / Weser watershed . While the Rhen a , which rises on the Hohen Rade mountain, drains south via Neerdar and Wilde Aa and then via Orke and Eder east to the Fulda and finally north into the Weser , the water of the Rhen e flows west of the Hohen Rade rises on the neighboring mountain Widdehagen , northwards into the Diemel and then north-eastwards into the Weser.
