Rimsulfuron is a chemical compound from the group of sulfonylureas . It is used as a herbicide in agriculture . Various Corteva (formerly DuPont ) products containing the active ingredient are available in Germany.
use
Products with the active ingredient rimsulfuron are used in agriculture . It is suitable for combating weeds in maize and potato cultivation. Target organisms are the couch grass , annual monocotyledon weeds and annual dicotyledon weeds.
In addition, it must be ensured that, due to its high toxicity to aquatic organisms, rimsulfuron should not get into water.
effect
Rimsulfuron among the group of ALS - inhibitor B. It is on the leaves and roots added the weeds. After absorption, rimsulfuron is transported via the vascular bundles until it reaches the target location, the meristematic tissue . Rimsulfuron inhibits the enzyme acetolactate synthase, which enzymatically catalyzes chemical reactions within various metabolic pathways . The inhibition has the consequence that the amino acids valine , leucine and isoleucine can no longer be synthesized by the affected tissues. It can take several weeks for the affected plant to die. However, the competition for nutrients with the cultivated crop ends after the target organism comes into contact with rimsulfuron.
Admission
Rimsulfuron has been approved in the EU since February 1, 2007 .
