Robert John "Rob" Scuderi (born December 30, 1978 in Syosset , New York ) is a former American ice hockey player who played 905 games for the Pittsburgh Penguins , Los Angeles Kings and Chicago between 1997 and 2017 Blackhawks in the National Hockey League on the position of defender . Scuderi won the Stanley Cup twice during his twelve seasons in the NHL - in 2009 with the Pittsburgh Penguins and in 2012 with the Los Angeles Kings.
Career
The 1.83 m tall defender played during his college days on the Boston College team in Hockey East , a league played by the National Collegiate Athletic Association . In the 1998 NHL Entry Draft , he was finally selected ( drafted ) as 134th in the fifth round of the Penguins .
From 2001 the left shooter was in the squad of the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins , a farm team of the Pittsburgh Penguins in the American Hockey League . In the 2003/04 season , Scuderi made the leap into the NHL roster of the Pittsburgh franchise , scoring one goal and two assists in 13 games . In the following years, the defender continued to commute between Wilkes-Barre and Pittsburgh, since the 2006/07 season he has had a regular place in the Penguins' NHL squad. On February 2, 2008, Rob Scuderi completed his 200th career game in the highest North American professional league against the Carolina Hurricanes . In the same year he reached the final of the Stanley Cup with the Pittsburgh Penguins , the North American ice hockey championship, but the team lost this in 2: 4 games against the Detroit Red Wings .
After four years with the Los Angeles Kings , with whom he won his second Stanley Cup in 2012, Scuderi returned to the Pittsburgh Penguins in July 2013. He signed a four-year deal valued at $ 13.5 million. In December 2015, however, he was given in exchange for Trevor Daley to the Chicago Blackhawks , for which he only played 17 games and was then transferred to the Rockford IceHogs farm team in the AHL in February 2016 . Shortly thereafter, Scuderi was transferred to the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for Christian Ehrhoff .
After the 2016/17 season, Scuderi did not receive a new contract in Los Angeles and then ended his active career.
