Rockhead is the only music album released in 1992 by the Canadian hard rock band Rockhead .

background

Bob Rock, producer for Mötley Crüe , Skid Row , The Cult , Metallica and other well-known artists, was a member of the band Payola $ back in 1981, with whom he recorded four albums by 1985. In 1988 he founded the band Rockhead with former Payola $ members. As a result, he concentrated on producing and was able to record with the albums Sonic Temple (The Cult, 1989), Dr. Feelgood (Mötley Crüe, 1989) and above all Metallica (Metallica, 1991) celebrate world successes. It wasn't until 1992 that his band was able to present the single Heartland . In the same year he produced the album Keep the Faith by Bon Jovi . Rock's producer assignments repeatedly delayed the recording of his own album, which was seen as an advantage in retrospect with regard to constant improvements to arrangements and new song ideas.

Billy Duffy , Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora were involved in the songwriting ; Sambora was also active as a guest musician for the song House of Cards , Duffy played lead guitar on Hell's Back Door. Other guests when recording the album were Little Caesar guitarist Apache ( Sleepwalk ), Kenny Greer and Scott Humphrey. First, the record company in 1992 published a timer titled Promo - EP containing five songs that appeared on the album.

Rockhead appeared in 1992 with thirteen titles. Bed of Roses and Chelsea Rose were released as further singles after the album was released. The maxi CD for Bed of Roses contained the title song as well as the song Angelfire and a more than six minute long remix of the song Sleepwalk, which had been created by Skinny Puppy . A music video was also produced for Chelsea Rose ; the maxi CD also contained an acoustic version of Angelfite and two versions of the Sleepwalk remix. In the UK , Chelsea Rose was also released as a vinyl maxi single . Despite positive reviews and a tour by the band to support Bon Jovi on the Keep the Faith tour, the album was unsuccessful and the group broke up in 1993.

reception

Rock Hard magazine wrote that Rock and his troupe tried "with their first release to follow in the footsteps of those who Rock previously produced and whom he made world famous." The group is doing "more than respectable", because firstly, "the production is right", and secondly, the song material works. All 13 numbers would turn out to be "real highlights". "Not a single song degenerates into pale mainstream". It is "consistently melodic, but still tough", the arrangements are "of course perfect and yet not overproduced." The author particularly recommends the titles Bed Of Roses , Heartland , House Of Cards , Warchild and Sleepwalk .
