Roger Roca Dalmau (born May 6, 1978 in Igualada , Spain ) is a Spanish long-distance runner and duathlete . He is Spanish marathon champion (2005) and world duathlon champion on the short distance (2011).

Career

In 1999 Roger Roca was the Spanish U23 champion over 10,000 meters. At the U23 European Championship in the same year he was sixth over the same distance.
In the following years he won the Catalan championships over 3,000 (2004) and 5,000 meters (2004) and was multiple Catalan champion over 10,000 meters (2003, 2005, 2008) and in the half marathon (2002, 2003, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2012 ).

In the marathon he was Spanish champion in 2005 and Catalan champion in 2009.

Since 2008 Roger Roca has been taking part increasingly in duathlon competitions and occasionally in triathlon events. In the duathlon he was three times Catalan champion (2008, 2010, 2011) and twice Spanish runner-up (2010, 2011).

He reached the high point of his sporting career in 2011 when he won the Duathlon World Championship in front of a home crowd. He benefited from the disqualification of the Portuguese Sergio Silva , who crossed the finish line first in the elite classification, but was subsequently excluded for doping .
