Rolf Möller (born August 21, 1932 in Krefeld-Uerdingen am Rhein , † January 6, 2015 in Wismar ) was a German graphic artist and landscape painter .

Live and act

Rolf Möller moved to Wismar with his family in 1936 . There he attended school and then completed an apprenticeship as a painter from 1948 to 1950. From 1950 to 1955 he completed a technical and university course for applied arts in Wismar and at the Berlin-Weißensee School of Art . In 1955 she was accepted into the Association of Visual Artists . From 1956 to 1963 he worked as a technical graphic artist at the Matthias Thesen shipyard in Wismar.

In 1964 Möller started working as a freelance painter and graphic artist. He received commissions mainly for public spaces , the design of leaded glass windows and mosaics in Rostock , Wismar, Grevesmühlen and Dorf Mecklenburg . He designed panel paintings for newly built passenger ships and designed the furnishings for the "Mecklenburg Mill".

In 1974 he bought a low German hall house in Wodorf near Blowatz . He expanded this into a studio and house. Numerous own exhibitions followed, including in Wismar, Dresden , Güstrow , Schönberg , Schwerin , Ratzeburg , Rostock , Lübeck and Schönwalde am Bungsberg . There were also many exhibitions abroad: in the Polish city of Szczecin , in the Norwegian cities of Halden , Fredrikstad and Moss , and in the Swedish metropolises Landskrona and Kalmar . Above and beyond the circle of those interested in art, he made a name for himself above all with the illustration of books of various kinds. Some of his works of art are in the possession of the museums in Wismar and on the island of Poel , in Rerik and in public institutions.

Rolf Möller's works were well known in the GDR , and in reunified Germany as well as in Scandinavia his work is present in many collections and in public spaces.

Rolf Möller died on January 6, 2015 after a long illness in Wismar.
