Roman Kariolou

Roman Kariolou (* 1983 ) is a pianist and film composer from Cyprus . In addition to commissioned compositions for sports and media events, since 2007 he has written the music for over 50 television films and series, theme music for series and a number of documentaries .

Musical education

Roman Kariolou received violin lessons from the age of three. When he was five years old, Menuhin invited him to the Yehudi Menuhin School . Kariolou was considered a child prodigy and played concerts in Vienna, Paris, London, Prague and Athens in his childhood. With the help of a scholarship, he studied with Zakhar Bron at the Lübeck University of Music for a year , moved to the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna in 1991 , where he was taught by Yevgenia Tschugajewa and continued his studies at the Mozarteum and with Tibor Varga at the Graz University of Music away. In 2004 he took courses in film music at the Film Music Institute Los Angeles.

Roman Kariolou specializes in music for documentaries and television productions. He has worked with television stations such as the BBC , CBS , ZDF , ORF , Discovery Channel , Arte and RAI . He was also hired as the composer of hymns and music for the opening shows for sports and media events. He wrote u. a. Music for the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin and the EHF Champions League anthem.
