Friedrich Alexander Rudolf Freiherr von Kittlitz (born April 2, 1817 in Posen , † December 11, 1882 in Hirschberg (Silesia) ) was a Prussian major general and commander of the 19th Infantry Brigade .

Rudolf was a son of the Prussian Colonel a. D. Friedrich von Kittlitz (1788–1849) and his wife Karoline, née Buchwald (1796–1862).

Military career

After attending grammar schools in Lauban and Schweidnitz , Kittlitz joined the 7th Infantry Regiment of the Prussian Army as a musketeer on June 21, 1833 . He was promoted to Second Lieutenant by mid-March 1839 and from October 1842 he was in command of the 5th Combined Reserve Battalion for one year. During the Polish uprising in the province of Poznan , he took part in the battle near Chludowo in 1848 . On July 30, 1850 he was assigned as a company commander in the 2nd Battalion in the 10th Landwehr Regiment to Oels and from the beginning of February 1851 in the same capacity in the 7th Landwehr Regiment. On March 22, 1868, Kittlitz rose to lieutenant colonel and was given command of Schleswig Infantry Regiment 84 on September 20, 1870 for the duration of the mobilization on the occasion of the war against France . He led his regiment at Gravelotte , Orleans , Beaugency Montlivault , Chambord , Vienne , Épuisay and Le Mans as well as before Metz .
