Montlivault is a French commune with 1,377 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Loir-et-Cher in the region Center-Val de Loire ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Blois and is part of the canton of Chambord (until 2015: canton of Vineuil ).

Montlivault is about ten kilometers northeast of Blois . The northern and northwestern municipal boundaries form the Loire . Montlivault is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Cour-sur-Loire in the north and north-west, Suèvres in the north, Maslives in the east, Huisseau-sur-Cosson in the south, Saint-Claude-de-Diray in the west and south-west and Menars in the west.
Montlivault is part of the Cour-Cheverny wine region .
