Marolles is a French commune in the department of Loir-et-Cher in the region Center-Val de Loire . The population is 725 (as of January 1, 2017). Marolles belongs to the Arrondissement of Blois and the Canton of Onzain (until 2015: Canton Blois-5 ).
geography
Marolles is located about seven kilometers north-northwest of Blois between Orléans and Tours . The Cisse limits the community in the northwest. Marolles is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Averdon in the north, Villerbon in the east, Villebarou in the south and Fossé in the west.
history
In the hamlet of Villemalard, which belongs to Marolles, there was an internment camp after the outbreak of World War II, in which many anti-Nazi German refugees were held, including Heinrich Blücher , Erich Cohn-Bendit , Jean Leppien and Horst Rosenthal . This camp operated from November 1939 to January 1940. It appears on a list of the civilian internment camps of the Historical Service of the French Army dated November 19, 1940.
