Chambord is a French commune with 93 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017). It lies in the district of Blois in Loir-et-Cher in the region Center-Val de Loire . It is particularly known for the Chambord Castle .

history
In 1552 the German Protestant princes signed the Treaty of Chambord with King Henry II of France . In return for the support through high monetary payments, the French king was guaranteed the imperial vicariate over the imperial cities (and de facto also the border bishoprics ) of Toul , Verdun , Metz and Cambrai in Lorraine and Flanders .
The renaissance castle built between 1519 and 1539 is remarkable and has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1981 . The Chambord castle was under King Francis I in the 16th century was built as a hunting lodge, surrounded by a 5,440 hectare hunting ground. The Chambord Park has been protected as the Réserve nationale de chasse et de faune sauvage since 1949 .
